Origami Diagrams

Here are a collection of diagrams and photo-diagrams for some of my origami designs. You will need a .pdf viewer such as Adobe Acrobat to view the hand-drawn diagrams. Please note that all of these diagrams are copyright and may not be reproduced or distributed without permission. Please wait for the diagrams to load below.

Tutorial

I've written a simple tutorial for everyone who wants to learn the basics of origami. In this section, I've included all of the basic folds and the basics of origami diagrams, and included a range of traditional designs and some of my own simple designs, with diagrams and photo-diagram tutorials included.

Sample diagrams

Insects

This is a small collection on some of the more difficult creations that I have come up with. It is recommended that only the expert attempts these models as they involved lots of tricky folds. Insects are a challenge to design due to the number of legs, wings and body parts. As a result, a series of special bases need to be devised.

Fantasy

Here are a selection of various fantasy models. As well as creations from mythology, I have included models from fields as diverse as Star Wars to Pokemon. Click on the title or the picture to load the diagrams.

Prehistoric

I have always enjoyed the subject of dinosaurs and it seemed only natural to combine this interest with my paperfolding. The recent BBC series 'Walking with Dinosaurs' caused me to pick up some of favourite picture books from when I was young and to try and fold some of the creatures that I saw.

Fish and Sealife

For someone who calls himself 'Fishgoth', I haven't created too many models or diagrams of fish, or indeed, sealife and other water-dwelling creatures. Nevertheless, I'm please with the few I have created. When designing fish, it is important to try to introduce a feel of 'flow' into the model; to try to give the impression of something swimming in water.

Plants and Flowers

Flowers and plants are a popular subject in orgami and attractive models can be made with brightly coloured paper. I am not perhaps the greatest at folding such flowers, but here is a small selection of fairly simple models that look attractive.

Mammals and Birds

Mammals always represent a challenge to the origami designer, due to their naturally curved and hairy forms. For my designs, I try to design mammalian models as close-back designs, having a round, curvy back and an overall 3-D feel.

Miscellaneous

Most of my subjects are flora or fauna of some sort, be they living, extinct, or imaginary. Sometimes, my creations do not neatly fall into a particular category, so this section is for 'Everything else' I'm likely to fold.
